Visual Voices

A Typographics Group Student Exhibition

Visual Voices is a group exhibition of recent typographic design works created by UNCG students under the guidance of Rachele Riley, Associate Professor of New Media and Design. Represented are works from the Typographics II course — a course within the School of Art’s New Media and Design area which is focused on typography and visual communication design. All works on view were created within a remote studio classroom set up. The exhibition highlights a selection of the conceptual, aesthetic, technical, experimental, and message-making explorations from the Aphorism Poster project. Students were guided to select an aphorism and then create typographic images to explore layouts and test choices for visualizing language, expressing voice, structuring sequence, and approaches to visually communicating a message. At first imagined in booklet form, students were then asked to use the same text and rearrange/rethink how one works with imagery, scale, proportions, and relationships through poster design.

About Second Stop 

Greensboro Project Space (GPS) is UNCG School of Art’s off-campus flexible art space that acts as a bridge between students and faculty and the Greensboro community. GPS Second Stop is an opportunity for student exhibitions to travel from Greensboro Project Space’s downtown location to the UNCG campus.
