NOTHING TO LOSE: Drawing as a Speculative Process features work generated during an annual compressed studio course at University of North Carolina Greensboro called 'drawing marathon'. The course is four weeks long, two days a week, for six hours each day and takes a broad approach to the idea of drawing: it is less about learning how to make perfect marks on a two-dimensional surface, and more about quickly translating, recording, and documenting ideas in new and inventive ways; prioritizing immediacy, iteration, invention, and exploration.

Emphasizing quantity over quality, this course pushes students to create so much work that they are able to purge ideas and exhaust their usual modes of thinking and making, thereby solving old "problems" in exciting and unexpected ways.

NOTHING LEFT TO LOSE features the work of Ash Strazzinski, Neeraj Sebastian, Sarah Ragan, Hediyeh Bondar, Tramaine Wilkes, Conner Calhoun, Max Burlon Baynes, and Sarah LaPonte.

Special thanks to Professor Mariam Stephan.
