Global Engagement Student Conference: GPS Terminal

November 11th, 2016

Through projects like GPS Terminal, GPS Correspondence, and GPS Kiosks, Greensboro Project Space is interested in accessing communities and spaces outside of our gallery walls. This is part of an on-going effort to connect Greensboro and UNCG to the rest of the world.

GPS Terminal is a plein air painting workshop within the gallery. There will be projected live feeds of resort cams from around the world from places like Ko Samui beach in Thailand, the Swiss Alps, Nalchik Russia, the Orinithos Rainforest, and many more. Participants paint these spaces which in turn brings these distant lands into our locality. This is an opportunity for Greensboro residents to travel around the world without having to buy a plane ticket. These live feeds will change every 10 minutes, and final pieces made by the public will be exhibited salon style on the gallery walls.
