In addition to the two main pavilions at the Venice Biennial, there are collateral events, or catalogo attivo all over the city. The second-year MFA students at UNCG have created their own collateral event based on their experiences and observations while exploring Venice for nine days in July of 2017.

The diversity of medium, concept, and context reflected in the work at the Biennial is echoed in the students' response pieces. Through painting, sculpture, installation, and expanded media works, Kathy Cook, Celia Cortez, Brittany Gilbert, Linda Kent, Brian Paulino, Chelsea Tinklenberg, Derek Toomes, and Anna Wallace share their insights from abroad.
