More About Conner

The exhibition spans work from the past two years during my run as a Grad Student at UNCG, with a core focus on unpacking my relationship between drawing and painting, and building bridges between the two. Filled with whimsical narratives and symbolic rigor, the work near the end of my Grad School experience started to zero in on working within an ever shifting, cubular space that referenced my direct surroundings, and a figure or character that resembled myself and embodied the emotional turbulence of a post-sobriety wake (a character that I have come to call hodgepodge). Pushing the figure beyond its own physical limits, setting them out on symbolic tasks, or contorting them into labyrinthine knots, ambiguous narratives unfurl, plumeing the murky psychological landscapes like recovery, grief, melancholia, and anxiety with the over currents of humor and irreverence as a retainer of hope.
