Live Music by Melvin Bauer, Laurent Estoppey, and Daniel Levin

Live Music by Daniel Levin (cello), Melvin Bauer (drums), Laurent Estoppey (saxophone)

New album, SUMAC, out for release this week on ears & eyes records
Duo #2: Daniel Levin + Melvin Bauer
Daniel Levin + Melvin Bauer have made music together in a variety of contexts, appearing in performance at Middleheim and Citadelic Festivals in Belgium, and in a range of venues throughout Portugal. This performance with Laurent Estoppey at Greensboro Performance Space will be the first stop on their US tour, which will culminate in live and studio recording sessions at Rhizome in Washington, DC, to gather material for their first duo record. Levin and Bauer endeavor to find through their improvisational practice, in the words of J. Krishnamurti, "freedom from the known". That is, they seek not to demonstrate evidence of their well-developed rapport and shared musical language in performance, but rather, to find new vistas unknown to them before manifesting them through the act of collective improvisation.
